Facebook’s New Privacy Features

by | Sep 1, 2011 | Social Media Marketing

Facebook's new sharing features

Facebook's new profile features

Facebook made huge changes to their privacy features last week, including how tagging and location sharing works, who can see the content that you post and what gets posted to your profile.

How Sharing Works Now

  • You can tag anyone on Facebook, even people who aren’t on your friend list. If they aren’t on your friend list, people have to approve these tags before they appear on their profile. You can also tag brands and businesses without having to like their pages.
  • You can now share your location in photos, posts and status updates without having to check in.

New Profile Controls

  • You can set your privacy settings so that you can approve what gets posted to your profile, including tags of yourself. This featured can be turned on or off in your profile privacy settings.
  • You can now choose who sees what you post and upload to Facebook. This is set using the inline audience selector. You can also go back and limit the audience for past posts.
